About Us

Learn about the Sikh American Historical Society and our commitment to preserving heritage.

Our Story

The Sikh American Historical Society was founded in 2025 with a vision to preserve and share the rich history of Sikh Americans and their contributions to the United States. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, we serve as a national resource for Sikh American history and heritage.

Our organization was born from a recognition that the stories of Sikh Americans, their struggles, achievements, and contributions to American society, were not being adequately documented or shared. We believe that understanding this history is crucial for building a more inclusive and informed society.

Since our founding, we have worked tirelessly to collect oral histories, preserve documents, and create educational resources that highlight the Sikh American experience. Our work spans from the early Sikh immigrants who came to America in the late 19th and early 20th centuries to the vibrant Sikh American communities that exist today.
